Yes, your cake is baked fresh and from scratch with premium ingredients so that you have a cake that tastes wonderful. I use the freshest ingredients possible in every product. One of these essential ingredients is real butter because it tastes so good.

Absolutely! Ingredients include butter, sugar, eggs, flour, milk, cream, baking powder, salt, baking soda, chocolate, whole nuts, fresh fruits, etc. I believe that taste is just as important as look. What's the point of having a beautiful cake, if it tastes horrible?

Your cake is baked as close to the delivery/pick-up date as possible, usually the day before. Cake needs a little time to rest, for several reasons. First, you can't put buttercream on a warm cake...it just doesn't work. Second and more importantly, if given a day too rest, cake flavors are more intense.

Cakes start at $4.00 per serving for buttercream cakes and $4.50 per serving for fondant covered cakes. Cupcakes start at $3 each. Pricing is ultimately determined by design. Items that would increase the price would be hand shaped figures, gumpaste flowers, sculpted cakes, etc.

Yes and no. Yes in the sense that I can only make a cake so small. The smallest cake I can make is a 4 inch round, which produces 4 servings. There is a minimum order for cupcakes. For each flavor of cake that you order, there is a minimum purchase of 2 dozen cupcakes. You can however choose several different flavors of frosting for your cupcakes.

The sooner you place your order the better, especially for weekends. I can only bake and decorate a certain number of cakes for each day. So the earlier you call, the higher your chances that I will have the availability to make your favorite cake. Also, the earlier you place your order, the more design options you will have available. If you want a cake that has gumpaste flowers or hand shaped figures, I need at least a week to allow for drying time. There are times where I can take an order for the following day or two, but I can't guarantee that I will have availability. Your flavor choices and design options may also be limited.

Depends on the cake. Typically, basic cakes are 4 layers of cake and 3 layers of filling. Depending on the design/style of your cake, along with number of servings needed, the number of layers may change.

Yes!!! Tastings consist of 4 cake flavors of your choice along with multiple filling/frosting flavors for you to mix and match. Please call for details.

At this time the only special dietary cakes I am able to make are vegan cakes. I cannot make a true gluten free cake as I use flour in my kitchen, and cannot guarantee that no flour will get into your cake. Please call for further information.

I do not have set business hours. I am available at different times though out the day/week by appointment only. I work to be flexible and offer appointments that fit into your schedule, even in the evenings and on the weekends.

I have commercial kitchen space in Tempe. I am located near 48th St. and Baseline. Exact address will be provided when you set up your appointment.

First, an appetite for cake. Other than that, anything and everything goes. Invitations, colors, pictures of cakes you like or don't like, pictures of flowers you might want to use, cake topper if you have one...or absolutely NOTHING. These items give me a sense of feel for the wedding and your style. I can work to incorporate any aspect of your wedding into your cake if you prefer.

Yes. The delivery fee is based on location of delivery. Delivery is NOT mandatory, but for some cakes it is highly recommended. For example, if you drive a very small compact car, I do not recommend you pick up your 4 tier cake. I am always willing to discuss delivery vs. pick-up with you and give you suggestions.

I do require a deposit for larger cakes, such as wedding cakes that are ordered months in advance. If you are ordering a $50 cake for the day after tomorrow...no deposit is required. A 20% deposit will reserve your date. For larger party/wedding cakes, the final payment is due 2 weeks prior to the event.

Cash or check. I do not accept credit cards at this time.

I started The Cake Lady in 2008, after attending Scottsdale Culinary Institute. Prior to that, I had been baking for friends and family since I was a kid. It is something that I have always loved to do. I am now making my childhood dream of professionally decorating cakes a reality.

Yes, I have no problems putting fresh flowers on your wedding cake if that is the design you choose. If you are concerned about fresh flowers, handmade gum paste flowers are a good alternative.

Several very important things. First, my kitchen space is inspected by the Maricopa County Health Department. Second, I have a licensed business. Yes, that means I have to pay taxes. Third, I have liability insurance. There are many venues in town that will not allow "home cake decorators" to deliver to their site because the decorator does not have liability insurance. Please make sure to research your cake company so you do not end up frantically looking for a new cake 2 weeks before your wedding.
